okay. this is a wierd one. www.londonfgss.com ran a t-shirt comp (again) and for kicks i threw some dumb ideas around based on memes within the forum. POC (pukes on cock) being one i whipped a sketch together in Skitch (which is awesome) and then found i had to submit actual art as people actually wanted to wear it. so here you go london. Our living room walls are starting to look the part, we recently had the latest print we've collected framed. The first print we got was vic's 2 year anniversary present to me, a mike giant self portrait screenprint (no. 19/100). the second addition was a valentines present from vic (ain't she the absolute best?), a niagara 'beat it' screen print (no. 65/100). just thought i'd show them off. good test of our new canon ixus 75 camera too. haha.

So, Spring is sprung, and its fantastic Sunday nursing a hang-over. To clear my head i cleaned my bikes. Think the BMX is going to go on ebay, its not getting much use and just takes up space in the shed. Add a little rust and it's a good idea to sell it soon. The T.J. Quick is running great. I got Brooks leather tape and saddle, and replaced the Cinelli drop bars with Cinelli LA 84's. Quite an odd look, so i'm toying with some nice Ambrosio drop bars too.
Our newest addition is Vic's Raleigh 5-Speed 47 Racer. A great name. Its junior sized, with 24inch wheels. We stripped the shit off, down to single speed and have a pair of Sun track wheels with a flip-flop hub coming. She'll be riding fixed in two weeks all being well.
The BMX is a Haro Group 1 Zi, from '93. i used to cruise to work on this everyday. I've added Shimano old school pedals, A'me grips, white Dia-compe MX brakes, and blue Haro Freestyle tyres.
The other is Vic's Raleigh... shopper? Folding Ladies Bike? Compact? Not sure, Carlos can't seem to pin down this one, but we came across it on ebay with a search for 'ladies shopper folding' or something. ebay. i love you.

two dogs, one first

I have wanted to bash out a big canvas for a while, and christmas seemed like a good time to try something and be able to give it as a gift. its a 90 x 60 cm canvas, with acylics. i thought it'd be nice for my girl's family.i wanted try my hand at a portrait of their dogs, merlin and tod, and even though some proportions aren't that great, i like the result. i've put the pic i used for reference below. gosh. some proportions aren't that great at all... oh well! hahaha! well, it was my first decent sized canvas and my first to actually get finished (only took 8 hours too).

... one board anyways. simple, oldschool design; a snake peirced by a dagger, with two skulls on a background of red roses. a couple of extra details were the spider crawling out the eye socket of one skull (with an eye on its abdomen), vic wanted a diamond in there, and one of the roses is black (a sign for death). it came from a doodle in a note pad, in terms of layout, and vic helped plan and colour. i used a Sharpie marker for line, and we scribbled away with Caran D'Ache pencils on an A2 mount board. Dead happy with this one.

vic and me made this one, a joint effort the last week. it was a quick sketch on to A2 mountboard, then we just sat and painted it over a couple of evenings, using acrylics. it was really nice to have vic involved. think there'll be more joint efforts soon.

i ruined a really nice drawing of vic, one where she's eating cereal on the sofa in a dressing gown, by sketching a character getting some tattoos done. the Sharpie marker went through the page and fucked the image on the other side. i didn't realise i left my sketchbook open on the reverse of the nice drawing...
anyways, i liked the new drawing and enlarged it up to A2 mountboard. sharpies and markers were go. i decided to make it for a mate, carlos benjamin, who lives down the road yet i hardly make time for. so he became one of the chaps in the drawing, getting ink relating to his fixie fixation (har) and what not.
so, heres the pics, from sketchbook to completion.

The Big Draw 2006

Where i work we have what they call "community service", and we 40 hours per year fo fulfill in whatever way we see fit. some stuff is organised, some stuff you can do off you own bat (say, working building hospitals in africa for 6 months), and some are simple local projects. This year's Big Draw event saw the local Dragon Hall (a youth center near Holborn) seek volunteers to help the little kids paint and make with the art. i raised my hand, along with a couple of others, to run a 'graffiti' table. it wasn't any thing flash, just some rolls of paper, poster paints, various brushes and some books on the topic. the little chaps there loved it. after they looked at some nice wall art in the books, we set about sketching their initials and comic heroes. it was only two hours, but it was fun and the kids got to take their art home, they seemed pretty happy. i didn't get a shot of francis' finished hulk, so i've messed around with that one.

Morocco - Holga pt. 2

more fun from the hogla. oh yeah, the yellowing and contrast effects are from cross-proccessing the film. i used agfa RSX II (iso 200) slide film, and had a bunch developed as normal and a bunch cross-proccessed (which is basically developing the slide film as a regular colour film). the results were pretty great, there's a shot of an Arabian horse which was developed regularly. i'll be doing more of this technique i reckon. neat.

Here's a few 120 shots from my holga. Went to Morocco on a work "inspiration" trip, to Fez and the coastal town of Essaouria. I'll be popping a few choice shots from my lil' IXUS III aps camera too. soon. scanning shots is a pain in the arse. ... though i'm glad i didn't take the digital, there's something nice and suprising about getting a film developed.

Snapped this on a snappy lil' trinket camera Vic bought me in Tokyo. Developing the 110 was easy, had to scan the negative at home, which looked nice in the end. I like the full negative exposure versus the film's frame.
